Round and About Beer
The beautiful village of Beer has spectacular walks along
the cliffs, a picturesque pebbled beach where you can hire a self drive
motor boat, join a fishing trip, swim or relax and enjoy the view from
one of the few beachside cafes.
Beer is situated on the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline
and East Devon is a designated place of outstanding natural beauty. It
is a great destination for walkers, nature lovers or anyone who appreciates
beautiful countryside and spectacular coastal scenery.
Beer has a number of interesting shops, art galleries,
restaurants, pubs and cafes making it the ideal setting for a relaxing
break. We can personally recommend Steamers Restaurant. Elsewhere in the
village you will find the Jubilee Memorial Gardens and the Mariners Hall
which frequently hosts craft fairs.
Beer - Beer Quarry
Caves and Pecorama are on our doorstep and there are riding stables and
a scuba diving school in the village. The spectacular section of the South
West Coastal path from Beer to Branscombe (about 1 ½ hrs) is a fantastic
walk for lunch at the lovely Masons Arms Pub.
Seaton - take
a ride on the Victorian Tramway along the river Axe from Seaton to Colyford-Colyton.
Try bird watching on the river Axe or use the local swimming, sauna and
gym facilities which are all open to the public.
Sidmouth – voted
number 5 recently in a national newspaper list of top ten seaside towns,
Sidmouth has lots of shops, a cinema, theatre and swimming pool. Sidmouth
boasts a lovely esplanade, great cafes and walks close by as well as the
famous Donkey Sanctuary.
