Right on the waterfront of the Taw and Torridge estuary, Curlew Cottage has superb views - you will see shore birds, boats and spectacular sunsets. A walled courtyard garden with lighting, table and chairs overlooks the water and the sand dunes of Braunton Burrows and Northam Burrows.

The author Charles Kingsley described Appledore as the 'little white fishing village'. Appledore is full of 'olde worlde' charm with narrow cobbled lanes of colour washed houses, fishermen's cottages and a pretty quay. The village was a centre for seafaring activities from mediaeval times, and is still home to shipbuilding, fishing and a maritime museum.

• The centre of pretty Appledore with its quay, useful shops and bus services is ten minutes by foot.
• The ancient port of Bideford with many amenities, antique shops and boat trips to Lundy is three miles away.
• Two waterside pubs serving meals are within a few minutes walk.
• The glorious beaches at Instow and Westward Ho! are a within a few minutes drive.

Two living rooms, three bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom: First floor: Wonderful estuary views from the living room, which has a "real flame" gas fire, TV and video. Double bedded room and a small bedroom with 2'6" x 5'8" bunks, suitable for children or small adults. Ground floor: Lounge/dining room with TV and original wood panelling. Dining table for six. Twin bedded room Kitchen/breakfast room overlooking the garden and estuary with table and seating for six. Bathroom with over-bath shower. People who find stairs difficult will appreciate having a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and lounge and dining room downstairs.
