The Barns at Lower Grimpstonleigh have now been restored and converted over the past seven years to provide luxury self catering holiday accommodation to the highest standard set in the heart of South Devon near to Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Dartmouth.

Our luxury Self Catering Barns lie a few miles north of the market town of Kingsbridge nestling in peaceful valley lies Grimpstonleigh. After driving down a quaint lane off the Kingsbridge to Totnes road you will find yourself in the valley to Lower Grimpstonleigh where our superb self catering Barns (Top & Cider) can be found.

CIDER BARN Sleeps up to 5 - Prices range from £550 - £855 per week

The Cider Barn, at Grimpstonleigh is a luxurious self-catering holiday cottage suitable for up to 5 people, newly converted from a medieval stone and thatched barn, near the market town of Kingsbridge.

Set in an old cider orchard and surrounded by some of the most beautiful natural countryside in South Devon, this idyllic location, together with supremely comfortable accommodation, makes the Cider Barn the perfect place to enjoy your holiday.

The luxurious Cider Barn offers a stunning mix of contemporary style and country antique furnishings. A handmade shaker kitchen conceals every appliance necessary to make your life easy, while comfy sofas, widescreen television and limestone bathrooms pamper to your need for luxury. (Please note: Due to internal and external stone steps and windows at floor level, Cider Barn may not be suitable for very young children)

Whilst staying at our luxurious self catering barn, you will find many thoughtful details, from books, DVDs, videos, Playstation and games to a superb welcome hamper including a local newspaper, and fresh locally produced milk, butter, home-made marmalade, freshly baked bread, free-range eggs and a bottle each of our scrumptious Grimpstonleigh Apple Juice and Ciders.

Our luxurious self catering Cider Barn includes:

• Full central heating.
• Widescreen television with Freeview, DVD and video recorder and Playstation in the living room.
• Fully equipped kitchen with electric oven and ceramic hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and Dualit kitchenware.
• Wireless Broadband connection.
• Ample car/boat parking.
• Double bed and colour television in main bedroom with en-suite shower room.
• Garden furniture & gas BBQ.
• Surf bodyboards available.
• Cot and high chair available by prior booking.
• Twin beds in second bedroom plus television, sofa bed and en-suite bathroom.
• All linen (except beach towels) provided.
• New for 2007 a Kayak is available to borrow (at own risk) also bring a roof rack!

The Top Barn is a luxurious self catering holiday cottage suitable for 4 people (a double sofa bed is also available in the lounge). Set in an old cider orchard and surrounded by some of the most beautiful natural countryside in South Devon, our recently converted Self Catering Barn is idyllically situated and together with our supremely comfortable accommodation, the Top Barn really is the perfect choice for your holiday.

The Top Barn living room is bright and sunny, with floor to ceiling French windows leading out to a large patio complete with BBQ and seating.

The rustic kitchen, leading off the living room, is arranged in a galley style with plenty of work surfaces and cupboards, as well as every appliance.

When you venture upstairs in the Top Barn you will be greeted by both the light and airy bedrooms which have beamed and vaulted ceilings and are all en-suite. The master bedroom overlooks the orchard and has superb views all along the valley.

Cider Making At Grimpstonleigh

There are three orchards (Top, Main & Little) at Lower Grimpstonleigh from which Kevin has been making apple juice and cider for nearly 10 years supplying the needs of barn guests along with many other thirsty visitors. The apple varieties are old and varied exceeding over thirty different types of trees. Ever thought about visiting and helping to make one of Devon’s most unique cider’s, we encourage our guests to come visit the orchards and help with pressing during harvest time.

Country Walks from Grimpstonleigh

Our luxury self catering barns are laced with superb green lanes and stunning bridle paths leading from Grimpstonleigh across over Torr Brook, eventually leading to the beautiful River Avon. The lanes and footpaths lead to Woodleigh and then down to the River Avon via the old Loddiswell Railway Station, once part of the 'Primrose Line' (linking Kingsbridge to South Brent). Short walks are marked on maps provided for guests in our luxury self catering barns.
