Lantern Lodge has a fine reputation for its high standard
of cuisine, much of which is prepared utilising fresh local
produce. Residents can enjoy a full English breakfast, bar
snacks at lunchtime, traditional Devon cream teas in the afternoon
and a comprehensive dinner menu that offers something to tempt
every palate.
Our well-stocked bar offers a full range of drinks to enjoy
before and after your meal and you'll discover that our wine
list is quite extensive for a small hotel, with a wide selection
of wines chosen from around the world

Occupying an enviable location on the cliff top overlooking
the secluded fishing village of Hope Cove, the Lantern Lodge hotel
is so named after its attractive leafily-clad 'Lantern window.'
Lantern Lodge is a small privately owned hotel that
prides itself on offering guests a high level of friendly personal
service in a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
Our location provides sea views that can only be
described as magnificent, with a panorama stretching from Bolt Tail
to The Great Mew Stone outside Plymouth Sound and to the coast of
Cornwall far beyond.
Local folklore would have us believe that this type
of window was specially designed to hold and display an illuminated
lantern which could be seen from all three aspects far out to sea,
acting as a beacon to safely guide home all their boats.
Nowadays, our Lantern window serves very much the
same purpose in welcoming back our contented guests year after year.
Looking out from nearly all our windows, you are
guaranteed to be rewarded with a view of some of the most spectacular
coastal scenery to be seen in South Devon Don't just take our word
for it, come and see for yourselves...

Lantern Lodge provides the perfect base from which
to explore this exceptionally beautiful corner of Devon, which incidentally,
enjoys one of the mildest climates in the whole of Britain.
Designated "an area of outstanding beauty" the South
Hams offers a rich blend of natural scenery, with rolling hills,
steeply-wooded valleys and river estuaries - quite apart from the
awe-inspiring coastline.
The
historic towns of Salcombe, Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Totnes are
all within easy reach, each is unique in their own way and offer
a host of things to see and do. A wide range of activities to suit
all age groups are available locally including: sailing, riding,
fishing, golf, and windsurfing to name a few.
