Out and About in the Area
Tidwell Manor has approximately two acres of garden,
with access to footpaths that lead to the 30,000 acres of open land.
There are seven areas of common land, Pebblebed Heaths, 17 burial
mounds and a RSPB Nature Reserve to explore.
This corner of East Devon is steeped in history with
its connections with Sir Walter Raleigh, his birthplace at East
Budleigh; Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Ottery St Mary; Topsham with
its Dutch architectural influence and the renowned Sidmouth International
Folk Festival. For those who enjoy the outdoor life Tidwell Manor
is well positioned for almost anything you wish to do.
If the hustle and bustle of city life is what attracts
you, there is the Cathedral City of Exeter about 10 miles distant,
whereas Budleigh Salterton, Exmouth and Sidmouth remain an unspoilt
coastal town and firm favourite for many.
With its rolling landscape the scenery of the area
is outstanding, yet a trip to the Lost Gardens of Heligan or the
Eden Project in Cornwall are both easily accessible as is Dartmoor
and the World Heritage Jurassic Coast from Exmouth towards Lyme
Regis in Dorset.
