Tor Cottage nestles in its own private valley where you will feel that you have escaped from the rest of the world but is only a ten-minute drive from Tavistock a delightful market town (voted best market town in 2004) on the foothills of Dartmoor. Here you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of our lovely gardens and be soothed by the gentle sound of the stream. You will be surrounded by 28 acres of wildlife hillsides through which you can walk along bridleways and footpaths, which lead you towards Dartmoor or the Tamar Valley. You may see deer, foxes, badgers, pheasants, numerous birds, butterflies and wild flowers on your walks. You can also explore the area by bike, The Granite Way, Devon Coast to Coast Cycle Route (NCN 27) and the Camel Trail are all a easily accessible from Tor Cottage. The Devon & Cornwall coastlines are only a 40-minute drive away. The Eden project, many beautiful National Trust properties and gardens, Lydford Gorge and pretty villages are all within easy reach yet in this beautiful and peaceful setting you will feel that you are miles from everywhere.

Tor Cottage has a warm and relaxed atmosphere where guests are welcomed and invited to share in the ambience of this special place. Our beautiful en-suite garden rooms, each with its own log-fire, private terrace and garden, ensure privacy and seclusion for guests seeking a relaxing holiday, a romantic celebration or a quiet retreat. Each en-suite has luxury facilities and a hospitality area with refrigerator for guests' own wine, as we are not licensed. You arrive to our friendly welcome and will find our 'Welcome Trug' of sparkling Cava, champagne truffles and fresh fruit in you immaculate en-suite. We will book you a table at a superb local restaurant or Inn, or (with advance notice) a delicious Tray Supper can be enjoyed in the perfect peace and privacy of your own room or terrace. Our Breakfasts are lavish and offer an array of local produce. Vegetarian options are always available and special diets can be catered for (please advise us).

En-suites
We are a child and pet free environment and have 5 lovely en-suite rooms to choose from. Every ensuite is equipped with a refrigerator, TV, DVD, CD player, Radio, hairdryer, dressing robes, tea and coffees.

The Garden Room is an elegant and spacious en-suite bedsitting room. It has a vaulted ceiling with original beams, and antique double bed, and comfortable sitting area with a log-fire. This en-suite has a spacious and interesting shower room with every facility.

Craftsman's Deco is also one of our garden rooms and it has a 6 foot super king size bed which can be arranged as two single beds. It is our only twin room option. This bedsitting room and en-suite, which has a bath and shower, has a fascinating and different style with its Art Deco theme. There are authentic furnishings, a cast iron log-stove and access from the bedroom to a private Conservatory and terrace which overlooks the garden. The Craftsman's Deco is reminiscent of the fun and originality of the '20s and '30s eras. Just the place to sip your martinis!

Craftsman's Garden is elegant and spacious with stylish soft furnishings and drapes and a cushioned window seat overlooking the valley. There is a large fireplace with a log-fire, comfortable chairs and French doors leading to a private terrace and garden - offering guests a very secluded setting adjacent to the stream. The en-suite shower room has every facility.

Craftman's Garden

The Cottage Wing is a private wing of Tor Cottage. It is situated upstairs and overlooks the valley. The double bedroom is furnished in cottage style and has a king-size bed. There is an adjoining private sitting room and a spacious en-suite bathroom with bath and separate shower.

Laughing Waters is Tor Cottage at its most unique. A Tranquil and Romantic retreat for the young at Heart. Laughing waters is a spacious bed-sitting room furnished in New England style. There is a double bed with American patchwork quilt, en-suite shower room and two sofas. Outside there is a Picnic Barbeque area known as 'The Ranch House'. Decking, hardwood furniture and a Patio Heater front a large undercover cooking area with a Gas BBQ. All for your private enjoyment.
