Appledore - Devon

The author Charles Kingsley, described Appledore as the 'little white fishing village'. Appledore is full of 'olde worlde' charm with narrow cobbled lanes of colour washed houses, rising steeply up the hillside, small fishermen's cottages and a pretty harbour. The village was a centre for seafaring activities from mediaeval times, shipbilding, fishing and smuggling. Appledore is now the home of the maritime museum.
