Bampton is a historic town on the edge of Exmoor. It is the ideal place for exploring Exmoor. There are plenty of local walks in the area, as well as trout fishing. Bampton has an annual Fair each October, that dates back to 13th century.

Bampton has a 14th century Parish church - St. Michael's, which was enlarged during the 15th century when the north ailse was added.
