Cullompton is a country town just off junction 28 of the M5 is at the very gateway to Devon. Lying in the valley of the River Culm, Cullompton grew out of the wealth created by the local wool and cloth trade. A fire in 1838 destroyed 264 of Cullompton houses, although some of the beautiful Georgian buildings still remain in the town centre to this day.

Cullompton's magnificent church, St Andrews, is situated in the centre of the town and is thought to be one of the most beautiful parish churches in Devon.
