Dartmoor is a genuine cycling experience offering a range of routes to challenge all levels of ability and experience. Families can enjoy quiet days out along the trails created along disused railway lines, whilst the more experienced riders can test their stamina and endurance along the Dartmoor Way.
The Dartmoor Way cycle route sweeps around the periphery of the Dartmoor National Park for over 90 miles linking many towns and attractions along its length, with an option to ride across the centre of the Park via Princetown. Click here for details The
Plym Valley Way - Saltram House to Clearbrook The Plym Valley Way follows the course of the old Great Western Railway line through tunnels and across viaducts. Most of this cycle way is off road - following the abandoned railway line, there is a slight incline, but nothing too taxing. Stunning views, historic woodlands, Isambard Kingdom Brunel's curved Shaugh Tunnel and a return journey that's nearly all down hill. Click here for details
A very easy and mostly level route around Burrator Reservoir. Stunning views across the reservoir to open moorland, many footpaths to explore. Dramatic overflows from the tops of the dam after periods of wet weather and vibrant displays of rhododendrons and azaleas . Click here for details |
