The level seafront boasts amusements of all types and a fun filled Pier. Lively family pubs and cafes line the promenade and the town centre is just a few minutes walk away. Wander down to the harbour and join a pleasure boat ride out across the Bay to either Torquay or Brixham.

During the summer months life seems to revolve around the seafront which comes alive to the sound of laughter and holiday fun. But there is also another side to this distinctive seaside town which can be found in the elegance of Oldway Mansion, the green coastline around Elberry Cove and the distinctive architecture of Palace Avenue. Holiday fun in Paignton revolves around the seafront. Here you'll find over half a mile of paddler friendly beach where you can hire a pedalo, take a boat trip or just relax under a parasol on one of our sun loungers.

For the more active, Paignton Green is close at hand. Sitting almost next to the beach, the Green is the setting for countless games of cricket, football and rounders! And in the summer months events are often staged there, including Children's Week in August.

By night, the seafront becomes a meeting place, the venue for an evening stroll under the illuminations or a place to simply watch the sun set on another day of your holiday.

Paignton Harbour

At the southern end of Paignton Sands you'll find the lively harbour. From here there are countless boat trips to locations all around the south Devon coastline along with fishing trips in the seas beyond.

Oldway Mansion - Paignton's Own Mansion

Oldway Mansion is the magnificent legacy of Paignton's most colourful family - the Singers of sewing machine fame.

Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway

Experience the romance of the steam age on a seven mile stretch of the Great Western Railway.

The train takes you on a spectacular journey alongside Tor Bay, then through wooded slopes to the town of Kingswear on the River Dart. From here you can take the passenger ferry across the river to explore the picturesque town of Dartmouth.

You could even take the Round Robin trip, which includes steam train to Dartmouth, a boat to Totnes and a return journey to Paignton by bus - what a day out!

As featured in BBC1 Zookeppers this famous Zoo is celebrating the completion of a £6 million redevelopment, transforming the Zoo into a journey of discovery through the world's threatened habitats.

In this exciting world of wildlife you'll find state of the art enclosures designed with animals and visitors in mind. Stalk through the Big Cat Forest, swoop into the Bird Aviary and sink into the Wetland Experience. Just behind Goodrington's long sandy beach you'll find the exciting and entertaining world of Quaywest. At its heart is shipwreck island where half a mile of water slides twist, turn and splash in this open air water park. Nearby Grand Prix Go Karts whizz around a specially built circuit and there's more fun on the water with the Bumper Boats.

Quaywest is the headquarters of Torbay's Marine Ranger. You can look around the beachside visitor centre and even take a seashore safari to explore the underwater secrets of Goodrington. Indoor fun can also be found nearby at Torbay Leisure Centre with a pool and a variety of indoor sports on offer.

The complex boasts its own railway station served by steam trains on the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway, as well as hundreds of car park spaces. Quaywest is also handy for visitors staying at many of the holiday parks in the Goodrington area.

Broadsands

A beautiful beach in a rural setting. It is mainly sandy, holds a Seaside Award and is handy for walks along the coast path.
