West Charleton Grange is uniquely situated in one of Devons best locations for individual and family holidays. Set in the very heart of the beautiful South Hams with easy access to Salcombe, Dartmouth, Totnes, Dartmoor and the most beautiful of South Devons beaches.
Dating from 1500, this old Norman rectory together with its lovely range of former barns and outbuildings is now a private hamlet of six comfortable, cosy cottages nestled in its own peaceful and hidden valley, yet just 2 mile from the picturesque market town of Kingsbridge on the Salcombe estuary.
Located at the end of a long private drive and surrounded by woods, fields, stream and wildlife lake you will find an excellent choice of tastefully converted barns offering a selection of four spacious, six - 5 star quality 'home from home' holiday cottages sleeping from 2 to 6 people.
The Cottages
Once part of the
ecclesiastical farm, these cottages each have their own individual character.
All have heating, colour televisions, DVD players, fitted kitchens equipped
with microwave, oven, hob, fridge/freezers, washing machines and tumble
dryers. All bed linen and towels are provided. There is a choice of accommodation
for 2 - 6 people, all of which are ETC 5 star, as is the whole complex.
We do not accept pets. All cottages are non-smoking.
At the Grange
In the grounds guests can enjoy their own superb indoor heated swimming pool, heated to 83 degrees all year round, tennis and basketball court, wildlife lake and table tennis. For the children there is a large playfield with a wendyhouse and an adventure playground with swings and slides. For those who enjoy walking, miles of local footpaths extend directly from the Grange and for those who don't you can just sit and relax and enjoy the special beauty of this lovely location. West Charleton village with its inn, excellent restaurant, post office and shop are just a short walk from the grounds.
Out and About
The picturesque market town of Kingsbridge at the head of the Salcombe estuary with its winding streets and narrow alleyways (Squeeze Belly Lane!) is just a short drive away, where you will find all modern shopping facilities for your convenience. Within half an hours drive are the pretty historic towns of Totnes, Dartmouth and Salcombe to explore.
For beach lovers, the South Hams is blessed with many Blue Flag beaches all offering safe, clean sandy havens to enjoy. There is an excellent choice of watersports available in the area, along with several golf courses and horseriding.
