Burrows Nature Reserve, (a UNESCO biosphere) with 5 miles of stunning
golden sands and surf close by at Saunton and Croyde. A wonderful place
to enjoy the glorious countryside cycling along the famous Tarka Trail
or in endless walks across the unspoilt burrows and dunes that lead down
to the sea at Saunton Sands.
Ideal for a peaceful safe and relaxing family holiday Willowfield
Lake Cottages offers 12 acres of secure grounds with picnic tables, benches,
trees, shrubs and wild flower areas with a lake and carefully mown footpaths
around the site and encircling the lake. With a superb indoor swimming
pool, games room and play areas to suit children of all ages.
Willowfield Lake boasts a mature and well established one
acre lake, stocked with Carp, Tench an Roach to challenge the seasoned
coarse angler and provide entertainment for the novice.
 
All cottages are equipped with dishwasher, a washing machine,
drier, fridge, oven with grill and ceramic hobs All linen, duvets, water
and electric (incl. heating) are included in the price. Digital TV with
Freeview, DVD Player, Microwave, tea and coffee making facilities Some
Cottages have private gardens and private hot tubs Cots, high chairs,
Z beds, bed guards and small BBQ's are all available (free of charge)
on request. NO PETS

Location
Situated in an Area of Outstanding National Beauty (AONB),
and designated as a site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Willowfield
Lake Cottages is an ideal base for bird watching. On Braunton Marshes
and Swanpool birds such as lapwings, wheatears, and golden plovers, can
be found along side mallard ducks mute swans and moorhens. A solitary
heron is normally found here as well as a little egret and at night the
sound of a little owl can be heard clearly.
Braunton Burrows is designated as a Site of Special Interest
(SSSI). it is one of the largest sand dune systems in Great Britain, nearly
six kilometres from north to south and over two kilometres wide. Two thirds
of the area are now a National Nature Reserve. It is home to nearly 500
different kinds of species, including very rare plants such as sea stock,
sand toadflax, water germander and 33 species of butterfiles, all living
in this sand environment. Wild animals live here such as rabbits, foxes,
hedghogs, moles, weasels, mink, shrews and mice.
Nearest to Willowfield Lake Cottages is the 3 golden miles
of Saunton Sands beach. Flat sand backed by massive sand dunes, this beach
is excellent for surfing and other water sports. It is wheelchair accessible,
has a shop, toilets and car park. However you can get away from the crowds
by just walking further along the beach. Ideal for families and couples
as Saunton has plenty of space for all.
